What up peeps. Hope everyone had a swell Tuesday… it was a Monday for myself. Flew back to Cali yesterday and all I gotta say is flying across the country is noo joke. I honestly don’t know how ppl can take flying to China on like 18 hour flights. Pretty sure my butt would be so numb it would turn purple and cease to exist. And oh, I loved seeing my fam and friends, but it’s great to be back on the Left Coast!

Now for the even better stuff: my top 5 most played albums of sayyy, the last few months (in no particular order):

1. You, Me, and Everyone We Know – Some Things Just Don’t Wash Out

Choice Cuts: “I’m Losing Weight For You”, “The Next 20 Minutes”, “Moon, Roll Me Away”
FYI: These dudes have been one of my favorite bands since they released their first EP Party For The Grown and Sexy back in 2006. Super clever and witty lyrics coupled with uptempo beats… I friggin’ love these dudes.

2. Man Overboard – Real Talk

Choice Cuts: “Real Talk”, “Montrose”, “Darkness, Everybody”
INCREDIBLE album, probably my AOTY. The title track, “Real Talk”, is one of my favorite album openers of all-time. Listening to that song makes me want to take on King Kong in a steel cage match.

3. Punchline – Delightfully Pleased

Choice Cuts: “Seventy”, “Roller Coaster Smoke”, “A Universal Theme”
The return of Paul Menotiades produced stellar results. “A Universal Theme” is just an unreal closing track, Paul’s voice is better than ever and Punchline continues to pump out solid albums. Pittsburgh, yeye!

4. A Day To Remember – What Separates Me From You

Choice Cuts: “Sticks and Bricks”, “This Is The House That Doubt Built”, “If I Leave”

Pretty solid disc for sure. Can’t say I love every song, but I’m a huge fan of their “I’m gonna do what I want and no one’s gonna stop me” type lyrics… because that’s how I feel most of the time.

5. Brand New – Daisy

Choice Cuts: “At The Bottom”, “You Stole”, “Daisy”
Admittedly, I was not a huge fan of this album when it first came out last year, but damn, this record has some serious balls. It’s not what a lot of people expected, but so what. Put your preconceived notions aside and rock it.

If you haven’t heard any of these, thank me later.

Awhile back we reviewed Singer/Songwriter Benjamin R’s release The Other Side of Nowhere and said that it was a welcome and noteworthy addition to the genre (Benjamin R The Other Side of Nowhere Review).

Benjamin recently contacted me and said that he was working on a follow-up, but in the mean time had released the single ‘All I Can (There’s No More).’

The track is embedded below…give it a listen and post your thoughts in the comments section!

Here is a video from a recently submitted band, New Kingdom. For simplicity’s sake, rather than typing up a long, sprawling story, just take a listen below…that’s what you were gonna do anyway, right?

For more information on this Los Angeles based rock/blues-infused band, check out the New Kingdom MySpace Page.
