Amber Pacific Signs to Victory Records
By
As announced on VictoryRecords.com on Monday, Amber Pacific (a more rock-oriented pop/punk band) has signed to the label.
Judging by the absolutepunk.net thread about Amber Pacific signing to Victory Records, the signing is garnering mixed reviews at best.
Several bands have had major issues with Victory Records and left the label, most notably Taking Back Sunday, Thursday, Atreyu, and Hawthorne Heights.
If you aren’t familiar with that situation, here isThe Horror by Ramsey Dean, a former Victory Records employee who uncovered the goings-on. It describes, in detail, what happened and how Tony Brummel was able to do such an admirable job at ruining the reputation of his label. I couldn’t find a link to Part 2 of the article since Victory Records threatened legal action against the sites who had it posted. If you happen to have/find a link to that missing part, let us know.
Amber Pacific has never been a big name in the scene (I personally thought that by this point they had broken up, since the last album they released was 2007′s Truth in Sincerity); but judging by some of the backlash coming from this signing, this could be great for visibility, but horrible for the longevity of their career.
For those of you that haven’t heard the band, here is a track off the aforementioned album, Truth in Sincerity:
